There was no letup to power woes for residents of Aldona, as supply continued to play hide and seek throughout the week, including Saturday.
Initially, the problem which appeared to be confined to mainly Aldona, Corjuem and Calvim, has now spread to other villages like Moira, Nachinola, Pomburpa and even the villages of Ucassaim and Bastora.
Most residents from the constituency took to social media to vent their frustration at continuous power cuts in their locality.
"No power since 11 in the morning. They are making us suffer to save Porvorim. Black week for Aldonkars," Prasad Mhambrey of Corjuem summed up the mood in a post on a WhatsApp group.
"Power cut for third time in the day. Sad state of affairs in our state...We pay tax but get poor services from the government in exchange," said Andrea Fernandes of Moira in a text on a social media platform.
Joining the censuring brigade was North Goa District Congress President Amarnath Panjikar.
"No lights on Calvim Bridge. It\'s in total #Dark. Will Aldona MLA give an explanation for the same?" he questioned.
If officials at the electricity department are to be believed, Aldonkars will have to bear with the power cuts for another day or two.
Executive Engineer, R V Dessai informed that on Saturday a 33 KV power line supplying power from Tivim to Nachinola substation snapped at Lobo-vaddo.
"The line was repaired and three insulators were also replaced. Work on the line was completed at around 3.30 pm," Dessai said.
The executive engineer further informed that the department was carrying out some work at Nachinola substation, which necessitated shutting of power. "We are in the process of installing six new panels at the Nachinola substation. To install the panels, we have to put off power every half an hour," he added.
Dessai informed all works will be completed by Monday and there won\'t be any power issues in Aldona in future.
