Aldona home gets physiotherapist
MAPUSA: A donation by a family from Aldona has enabled the Home for the Aged (Asilo) at Aldona to provide the services of a physiotherapist to senior citizens at the centre on a weekly basis.
According to Savio Figueiredo, secretary of the executive committee that manages the Home, Helpage India had donated a full-fledged physiotherapy centre/gym to the Home at Aldona; and a physiotherapist visits the Home on Friday evenings for two hours to help residents of the Home. Figueiredo said further that a need was felt for a physiotherapist to visit the home more often and the executive committee, headed by Avinash Misquita, was looking for assistance to achieve this.
"We have now received a Rs 75,000 donation from Lilia de Souza, in memory of late Engg Sylvester de Souza on the occasion of his 75th birth anniversary. This donation will be used to fund the visit of a physio four times a month, on Monday mornings, from 9 am to 12 pm.” Figueiredo informed that physiotherapist Dr Alisha Fernandes will visit the Home from January 25. Other senior citizens from Aldona can avail of this facility also at a nominal fee.
