PANAJI
Parishioners of Aldona celebrated the feast of their patron St Thomas with traditional fervour and solemnity on Saturday. The concelebrated Feast Mass was presided over by Fr Melito D’Costa, who had served in the parish as a deacon prior to his ordination to the priesthood on April 28.
In his homily, Fr D’Costa highlighted the three aspects contained in the theme that St Thomas faithfully lived in his life.
At the end of the celebration, Aldona Parish Priest Fr Tomas Lobo expressed his joy at having the newly ordained Fr Melito D’Costa celebrate the Feast Mass and offered him a gift on behalf of the parishioners as a token of love and appreciation.
He also thanked all those who collaborated in organising a meaningful preparation for and celebration of the feast of the parish patron.
The Feast Mass saw a large attendance of the faithful after a two-year gap due to the pandemic restrictions.
The traditional brass band in attendance, fair selling traditional sweets, besides the carrying of the saint’s statue in the traditional procession, etc added solemnity to the occasion.
