PORVORIM: Socorro Sarpanch Sandeep Vazarkar along with Panchayat Secretary Kishor Pagui conducted a site inspection of eight unauthorised structures in the fields of Serula communidade near Socorro-Tisk.
Deputy Sarpanch Deepali Satardekar and panch member Sandeep Manjrekar were also present at the site.
A lot of unauthorised structures have come up in the fields of Serula communidade located on both sides of the Mapusa-Panaji highway near Socorro“Tisk in recent times.
Since the panchayat did not take action when these structures were constructed, it provided encouragement to others to add additional structures, causing anger among residents in the village.
The residents had raised the issue of these illegal structures at several gram sabhas and had demanded action against the structures.
Speaking to reporters, Vazarkar stated a resident has raised this issue of illegal structures in the gramsabha held on 24th February 2019 and subsequently filed a complaint with the panchayat and demanded legal action against them.
“The Socorro panchayat, therefore, issued notices to eight unauthorised structures and advised its owners to be present for the site inspection. On inspection, it has been found that all eight structures are illegal.”
“The panchayat secretary will present his detailed report of the site inspection in the panchayat body meeting and after discussion, necessary legal action will be taken against the illegal structures,” said Vazarkar.
The sarpanch said there have been other cases of land filling and construction of unauthorised structures in the fields.
“The panchayat will shortly issue notices in these cases also. Revenue Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte is totally against permission to construct in fields as he wants to keep the fields clean and green.”
“The panchayat will, therefore not legalise the unauthorised structures and will take legal action against them,” said Vazarkar.
