While the renovated wholesale fish market is finally set for its inauguration, questions are being raised how the SGPDA will go about allotting the spaces in the market for the traditional fishermen and boat owners and the fish traders bringing fish from outside the state.
Questions are being raised how the SGPDA will go about the process of allotting the office spaces on the first floor of the two imposing buildings in the wholesale fish market.
A visit to the wholesale fish market complex showed that two unloading platforms have been set up in the market, with a provision for offices on the first floors of the buildings.
A GSIDC official told The Goan that it is purely for the SGPDA to take a call how to go about allotting the platforms for the local fishermen/boat owners and the fish traders, bringing in fish from outside the state. “The GSIDC has created the infrastructure as per the order placed by the Fisheries department. Our role will end once the work is completed in all respects. The job of allotting the platforms and office space in the buildings fall in the domain of the SGPDA”, the official added.
