MARGAO
An accused in the land grab case has alleged that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has claimed that a person, who is believed to have been allegedly involved in a land scam in South Goa, has gone scot-free.
He told The Goan that he was named as one of the accused in the FIR registered at the Fatorda police station. “I immediately reported at the police station upon receiving the knowledge of the same and informed the investigating officer that I am ready to cooperate in the process. I have disclosed the name of the person who is involved in the entire land scam in South Goa. To date, the person is roaming freely. No investigation has been conducted by any investigation agency in respect of the person who may be having someone as his Godfather,” he said.
Another person told The Goan that there is another person allegedly involved in the entire land scam in South Goa.
“This person traps innocent people who are basically his clients. He holds their details including ID proofs etc. and based on his relationship with such clients, he requests them to be a witness in sale deeds to create Benami transactions. His targets are his innocent uneducated clients who are his baits to trap other innocent people/customers,” he said.
Saying the person runs an agency and claims an expert in drafting conveyance deeds relating to sales of property, succession deeds, wills etc, sources said the person requests people to be witnesses, but in reality, they are shown as vendors and purchasers in the sale deeds and other such transactions.
“This person is still not arrested even as he is operating from his multiple offices,” sources added.
When The Goan contacted the Fatorda police station to shed light on the land scam case registered at the police station, an officer said the case has since been transferred to the SIT for further investigations.
