A 76-year-old man from Ambelim village was allegedly done to death at his residence in the wee hours of Sunday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Margao Sandesh Chodankar informed that the Cuncolim police have registered a case of murder against the 50-year-old daughter of the deceased in connection with the murder.

District Police Chief, SP Sammy Tavares, informed that preliminary inquiry has revealed that the accused daughter has been in a disturbed frame of mind over the last few days.

He said the accused has been admitted to the Hospicio South Goa district hospital for treatment of infection after she reportedly put ear drops in her eyes. 

She will be examined by doctors on Monday,” he added. SP Tavares informed that the incident is believed to have occurred in the wee hours of Sunday after some quarrel between the father and the daughter. 

He said a complaint to this effect has been lodged with the police by Paulina Francisca Silva, the wife of deceased Fidelis Mariano Cardozo and mother of the accused, Mariani Cardozo.

SP Tavares informed that the deceased was assaulted with a wooden log on his face and legs, resulting in his death on the spot.

The police have registered a case of murder under section 302 of the IPC. Further investigations are on.
