At a time when Honda village is in the grip of a Covid crisis with 142 active cases as on May 3, locals of Saleli-Honda are also facing a water crisis.
Claiming that they have been facing erratic water supply since the last few months, angry locals in Saleli have now threatened to protest on the streets if the water problem is not resolved within four days.
The agitated locals marched to the Valpoi water supply office to highlight their plight and when they found the officers absent, they addressed their grievances to the media.
Deepali Gaonkar said they have been suffering from erratic water supply in the village since the last four months.
“After repeated complaints, a water tanker was made available for the people but water supplied by the tanker is insufficient to meet the needs of the village,” said Gaonkar, who also suspected the quality of water being supplied by the water tanker.
Another villager, Rama Gaonkar, claimed that the water supply had removed the old pipeline and was trying to replace it with a new one, leading to the acute water shortage problem.
“Many complaints have been filed in the water supply department, but so far no action has been taken to solve our problem. We have no option but to protest on the streets if this problem is not resolved within four days,” he warned.
