A head constable attached to the Anjuna police station has been transferred to Goa Reserve Police ‘B’ Coy, a move that incidentally comes hours after an international sex racket was busted on Friday.
HC Anil Pilgaonkar was given his transfer order on the very day the Anjuna police rescued five Kenyan women and arrested their traffickers in one of the major prostitution raids. The police higher-ups also directed that the HC be relieved immediately.
Interestingly, Head Constable Anil Pilgoankar has been stuck at the Anjuna Police Station for the last 10 years.
Sources informed that the Head Constable was transferred twice during his stay in Anjuna “ once to Agassaim and the other to Colvale police stations “ but he managed to stay put at Anjuna.
Reliable sources revealed to The Goan that a policeman’s role has come under the radar for allegedly collecting protection money from pimps of sex rackets operating in the northern coastal belt.
It is further learnt that an internal inquiry has been ordered against this cop, who also goes by the name Chotu and allegedly holds stakes in two salon-spas.
"All of this will now be a part of the internal inquiry," sources said, adding that the policeman was earlier transferred to another police station but not relieved.
Anjuna police on Friday evening held a press conference informing about the busting of the racket.
As per the details shared by Superintendent of Police (North) Nidhin Valsan and Deputy SP Jivba Dalvi, the arrested accused lured the Kenyan women “ all of whom are young and educated - to India on the false promise of offering jobs in Goa’s hospitality industry but instead forced them into the flesh trade.
The agents who lured these vulnerable lot worked on behalf of traffickers in Goa.
