A senior police officer said that the transfer of the Anjuna cop was routine and had no connection with the unearthing of the international sex racket at the coastal police station on Friday.
According to North SP, Nidhin Valsan (IPS), the head constable’s transfer was a routine one and came from the police headquarters.
“The transfer has nothing to do with the sex trafficking racket. It was just a coincidence that his transfer came just on the day when the sex racket became public,” Valsan said.
However, the SP admitted that the particular policeman remained on duty at the Anjuna PS for a long time.
While the sex trafficking racket was brought before the media on Friday evening, Anil Pilgoankar who is the Head Constable at the Anjuna Police received his transfer order on Friday afternoon.
Police sources told The Goan that in every police station a trusted policeman is tasked with the job to collect protection money from all illegal activities taking place within the jurisdiction of the police station.
“The favourite cop carries out all the illegal activities with the blessings of his superiors,” the source informed.
