PANAJI: The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) in two separate raids on Saturday in adjacent coastal villages of Anjuna and Chapora arrested three locals, including a police constable Vinod Malvankar, for alleged involvement in the drug trade. An ANC team led by police sub-inspector Nathan de Almeida raided a house in Anjuna and nabbed Ronit Prashant Konadkar and his mother Pratiksha Prashant Konadkar. They were found in possession of 1.798 grams of MDMA, 0.936 grams of suspected cocaine and 5.135 gram of charas, totally worth Rs 30,000. The cops also seized Rs 3-lakh in cash and gold ornaments weighing around 958.62 grams along with the narcotic substances. Konadkar was also arrested in Hyderabad in 2016 for possession of drugs.
Earlier on Saturday, the police contingent faced the ignominy of having to arrest one of their own in Chapora - a police constable Vinod Malvankar.
The 41-year-old Malvankar was nabbed while in possession of 10 grams of charas worth around Rs 5000 at Bandirwado, Chapora.
