In two separate late-night operations, the Crime Branch and the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Goa police have arrested two persons and seized narcotic substances valued at Rs 7.70 lakh approx in the international market, officials said on Thursday.
In the first case, the Crime Branch raided a house in Sangolda and arrested Houston Rodrigues after he was caught red-handed in illegal possession of suspected ganja weighing 4.052 kg. The contraband, along with other seized articles, was estimated around Rs 4.50 lakh in the international market.
In a separate operation, the ANC arrested a native of Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, for possession of drugs in Anjuna. Acting on specific inputs about drug peddling, ANC sleuths maintained surveillance and apprehended Neelmani Thakur and seized charas valued at Rs 3.20 lakh, along with cash in Indian and foreign currency.
