The Crime Branch of the Goa Police on Friday seized nearly 5.9 kg of suspected ganja from a rented room at Upper Arvalem in Sanquelim.
Police arrested Vikas Kumar alias Raghuraj Kesari and Virendra Kumar, natives of Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh, who are presently residing in Goa.
The accused were caught red-handed with a blue polythene bag containing greenish flowering and fruiting tops suspected to be ganja, weighing 5.890 kg. The seized contraband and other articles are estimated to be worth around Rs 6 lakh.
According to the police, the accused had allegedly brought the suspected ganja and concealed it with the intention of supplying it to prospective customers.
The seizure was carried out following due procedure, and the accused were arrested after observing Supreme Court guidelines. Further investigation is underway.
