At least four persons are believed to have been injured after an Andhra Pradesh registered car rammed into vehicles, including two-wheelers along the Benaulim beach-Maria hall road on Monday evening.
The incident triggered an uproar in the village as local residents called for strict action against the car driver who drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner causing damage to two-wheelers and injuring the riders.
Two persons, including the Assistant Parish Priest of St John the Baptist Church Fr Joao Coelho, was rushed to the Hospicio hospital with bleeding injuries. The Assistant Parish Priest sustained injuries on his thigh and was attended by doctors in the casualty, informed Parish Priest Fr Lucio Dias.
Locals pointed out that the driver of the ill-fated car was coming towards Maria hall from the beach when he rammed against the vehicles along the way.
Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao, former MLA Caitu Silva, St John the Baptist Church Parish Priest Fr Lucio Dias and many residents of Benaulim rushed to Hospicio hospital after news spread that the Assistant Parish Priest and other residents were injured in the accident.
The accused driver, who is also believed to have sustained injures on his face, was also brought in at the hospital. The Colva police is investigating.
