Anganwadi workers and teachers who have been agitating for several days at the Azad Maidan on Wednesday marched to the official Altinho bungalow of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and staged a dharna clashing intermittently with the strong police force deployed there.

As the agitating Anganwadi workers and teachers crowded the space in front of the official CM's bungalow shouting slogans seeking redressal of their demands, they intermittently clashed with the strong posse of policemen deployed.

An attempt was also made by the policemen to round up and detain the leader of the Anganwadi workers Hrudaynath Shirodkar, who later told media persons that his shirt was torn and the policemen stamped on his chest.

They also said that four of the agitating Anganwadi workers were injured in the intermittent clash with the police.

The Anganwadi workers are demanding a hike in honorarium and post-retirement pensionary benefits.
