Anjuna Police have registered FIRs against two clubs “ Noah in Vagator and Diaz Pool Club & Bar in Anjuna “ on charges of violating noise pollution regulations by playing music beyond the permissible sound levels.
Police lodged an FIR under Section 5 of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, and Section 15 of the Environment Protection Act, 1986, against the manager of Noah, a club in Vagator.
According to police, on December 1 between midnight and 6.00 am, the real-time sound level meter at Noah recorded sound levels of 66.7 dB, exceeding the permissible limits.
This breach caused noise pollution in the locality, violating the provisions of the Noise Pollution Rules and the Environment Protection Act.
Similarly, an FIR was registered against the manager of Diaz Pool Club & Bar, located in Gaonwadi, Anjuna, for playing loud music on two occasions: On November 30 from 2 pm to 10 pm, sound levels reached 78.8 dB, and on December 3 from 2 pm to 8.28 pm, sound levels were recorded at 76.9 dB.
These readings, obtained through the club’s real-time sound level meter, exceeded permissible limits and caused noise pollution in the area, contravening the same regulations as in Noah’s case.
The police emphasised their commitment to enforcing noise pollution regulations and protecting the community from the adverse effects of excessive noise.
Further investigations are underway, and legal proceedings against the clubs’ management teams are expected to follow.
