Parents, students protest outside Shiroda Govt Primary School

PONDA

Parents, along with 18 students from the Government Primary School in Shiroda constituency, began a protest on Wednesday, demanding the transfer of a teacher.

In response, the teacher filed a complaint with the authorities, claiming to have been harassed by some parents.

The education department acted quickly, ordering the teacher’s transfer to another government primary school in the Shiroda area on Wednesday afternoon.

The protesting parents claimed that the teacher, who had been at the school since September, had not provided proper education to the children. They had previously submitted complaints to various authorities, asking for the teacher’s transfer.

When there was no response to their complaints, parents decided not to send their children to school on Tuesday and submitted a new complaint to the Assistant Director of Education (ADEI).

On Wednesday morning, the students and parents began protesting outside the school, with parents warning that they would not send their children to school until the teacher’s transfer was confirmed.

Meanwhile, the teacher claimed to have been working as a teacher for 23 years in different schools but had never faced complaints from parents. The teacher has filed a complaint with authorities, accusing some parents of harassment.

Dr Uday Gaonkar, Assistant Director of the Education Department, said officials had visited the school twice following complaints from parents, but on both occasions, the students did not report any issues with the teacher.
