With the annual power shutdown affecting normal life across South Goa, thousands of visitors headed to the world-famous Colva beach, to beat the sultry heat on Sunday.
With no current to run air conditioners due to the power shutdown, locals and families went on a picnic to the Salcete coastal belt, only to return home after the power supply resumed around 4 pm.
Colva Beach, in particular, recorded an exceptional crowd on Sunday. Besides tourists, locals came in large numbers to spend the day at the beachside.
The children’s park was full to its capacity with families occupying every inch of available space at the place. The Children’s Park has been a favourite destination for the local people visiting Colva Beach over the years.
Sunday was no different as families could be seen enjoying their home-prepared lunch under the shade of the swinging palm trees.
