Another bridge across the Mandovi for light vehicles?

PANAJI: Vice Chairman of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Siddharth Kuncaliencar has said that he has sent a fresh proposal to the State government for the construction of an additional bridge between Panaji and Betim for two and four wheelers.
Speaking to media persons, Kuncaliencar said that the need for a bridge was felt to cater to the thousands of people who otherwise use the ferry services everyday and help improve connectivity with Panaji.
"The distance is around 600 metres between the two banks. We have forwarded a proposal to construct a bridge for light vehicles along this route. If the construction of the bridge will not hamper navigation in the river Mandovi, we consider it. No final decision is taken," Kuncaliencar said.
He said that an earlier proposal to build a bridge was rejected by the State government which instead went ahead with the third Mandovi bridge, but he has nonetheless decided to resubmit the proposal.
Kuncaliencar has said that feasibility reports have already been carried out and it is a question of the will of the government whether to go ahead with this bridge or not.
