The first public hearing on Wednesday had been convened on the proposed expansion of Berths 5A and 6A to enhance coal handling activities, while the second public hearing on Thursday was on the deepening of approach channel and inner basin for capsized vessels.
When the first public hearing could not conclude till Wednesday midnight, Presiding Officer and Additional Collector Johnson Fernandes assured to hear the remaining people for one hour on Thursday, before taking up the second public hearing on the dredging activity.
The second public hearing could not end till late Thursday night and Fernandes decided to adjourn the meeting to the second half of April 29. The third public hearing on Friday will be on the work to re-develop Berths 8, 9 and barge berths. >> See pg 2
