MARGAO
The Margao police has yet again nabbed an alleged drug peddler from the Margao Municipal garden, bringing to the fore the oft-repeated question whether the municipal garden has slumped into a den for anti-socials.
Acting on a tip off, a Margao police team comprising of Margao PI Kapil Nayak conducted a raid at the garden and nabbed a native of Bihar Santosh Jadhav.
He informed that the 24-year-old accused was found in possession of 405 grams of ganja valued around Rs 1.41 lakh.
He informed that the accused has been booked under the provisions of the NDPS Act and investigations are underway to find the source of the drugs. “The accused is an ex-convict. He was accused by the railway police for theft of scrap,” he added.
This is not the first time that the Margao police has successfully conducted a raid at the Municipal garden to nab alleged drug
peddlers.
In fact, the Municipal garden, which is located right in front of the Margao Municipal building, has been in the news with the garden becoming a hub for anti-social activity. With no full-fledged security personnel manning the garden, local citizens say the garden plays host to anti-social activity and resting place for drunkards, beggars, vagabonds, etc.
