According to the AIU officials, the Air India flight arrived at the airport from Dubai and the officials while rummaging found three plastic bundles inside the toilets. On scrutiny, assorted gold jewellery and three gold bars weighing 2.532 kgs worth Rs 65 lakh were found.
The officials added that during the enquiry, no one came forward to claim the gold which is now in the possession of the Customs.
The officials said the seizure was made by the Customs officials at Dabolim airport and led by Assistant Commissioner of Goa Airport Vivekanand Reddy under the supervision and direction of K Apazhakan, Commissioner of Customs.
Customs had earlier seized foreign currencies amounting to Rs 22 lakh.
