Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday launched the ‘Anywhere Registration’ initiative, allowing property documents to be registered at any sub-registrar office within a district, irrespective of jurisdiction, and said the model could be extended to other departments.
The system, introduced under the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS), was formally inaugurated in the capital city, and Sawant said it would improve citizen-centric services and could be extended to other departments, including the Transport Department and Sub-Divisional Offices.
“This initiative is aimed at bringing technology-driven reforms, ensuring better utilisation of staff, reducing pendency, speeding up document disposal and increasing overall productivity,” Sawant said.
Under the new model, citizens in North Goa, South Goa and Kushavati districts can register sale deeds and other property documents at any sub-registrar office within the district.
The initiative will end the restriction of registering documents only at the taluka registration office with jurisdiction over the property's location.
The NGDRS is a cloud-based, centralised platform developed by the Government of India to standardise and digitise property registration across states. It is part of the “One Nation, One Software” initiative aimed at simplifying deed registration and ensuring uniformity nationwide.
Sawant said the government was exploring ways to replicate the model in other services.
“We are considering extending this system to the Transport Department, Deputy Collector offices and other citizen-facing departments,” he said.
Officials said the reform would help reduce delays, improve transparency and make property transactions more convenient, and the government expects the system to strengthen efficiency in handling registrations and ease the burden on citizens.
