In a tragic incident, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Gabriel Almeida was found hanging dead in his house at Assolna, moments after his mother expired in a city-based hospital on Saturday noon.
Cuncolim Police station in-charge, PI Shailesh Nagvenkar told The Goan that Gabriel allegedly ended his life inside his home by hanging with a nylon rope at Waddem-Assolna on Saturday noon.
Police said APP Almeida returned home from Margao at around 3 pm after his mother expired in a city-based hospital. PI Shailesh said the incident came to light when some relatives came to his house at Waddem after news spread about the death of Gabriel's mother.
Since the door was found locked from inside and there was no response to repeated calls to open the door, PI Shailesh said the door was forced open by the people, only to find Gabriel hanging inside. "The Cuncolim police was informed about the incident at around 5 pm", he said, adding that the police have not found any suicide note left behind by the deceased in the house.
The police said that Gabriel's body was sent to the mortuary, adding that doctors will conduct post mortem examination before handing the body to his relatives. The body of his mother is preserved at the mortuary at the T B hospital, Monte Hill. The police are conducting further investigations.
