Chief Minsiter Pramod Sawant on Thursday once again asserted that app-based taxi aggregators will be permitted in the State to resolve the problem of high costs faced by tourists in the State.
Sawant said, app-based taxi aggregators were operating everywhere in the world and Goa cannot be an exception.
Sawant made the statement at an interaction with members of the World Travel and Tourism Council of India (WTTCI) who he urged to support Goa in its quest to add more dimensions to its tourism destination brand.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte also participated in the interaction.
Sawant told the members of the council, which works with the Central and State governments on tourism policy matters that beyond the famed sun, sand and sea, Goa also had huge scope for tourism activities in the hinterland.
Medical tourism, wellness and spiritual tourism were some of the areas mentioned by Sawant where Goa had tremendous scope to enlarge its brand.
Khaunte on his part highlighted the efforts of the government as well as the industry to widen the scope of the sector beyond the pristine coastline of the State.
Mentioning Dudhsagar waterfall, Khaunte said efforts are on to add more features to ensure visitors have scope to indulge in more adventure activities around the same location.
Speaking to the media after the interaction, Khaunte said, the interaction helps the government understand the concerns of the industry so that remedial steps are taken to make the State investment friendly in the tourism and travel sector.
Khaunte said, the discussions were fruitful and helps the government to understand what the industry expects of it and to also convey to the industry the government’s expectations.
