Appointment of co-opted corporators challenged

The decision by Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) to appoint Kabir Makhija and Kishore Sastry as co-opted corporators has been challenged by Adv Aires Rodrigues in the Bombay High Court at Goa.

The petition is expected to come up for hearing before a Division Bench comprising Justice M S Sonak and Justice M S Jawalkar on July 8.

According to sources, the CCP did not respond to the legal notice, prompting the petition the HC. Adv Rodrigues had served a legal notice asking the corporation to immediately withdraw the decision to appoint Makhija and Sastry as co-opted corporators.
