MARGAO
Will the storm kicked up over the appointment of five data entry operators through the Human Resources agency bring curtains down on the Margao Civic Alliance (MCA) ruling the Margao Municipal Council?
Well, it’s still unclear how the controversy over the recruitment would evolve, but one thing is clear that the controversy surrounding the appointment of data operators, after it was raised by councillor Ganashyam Shirodkar, has left a trust deficit between leaders of the Kamat’s Model Margao and Sardesai’s Fatorda Forward.
Sources in the Sardesai camp informed that the Fatorda MLA and his councillors are reportedly seething with anger over the manner in which the process of appointment of the five data operators was secretly carried out by the civic body. In fact, members of the Sardesai camp are openly questioning how come the five data operators all hail from Margao. They are in fact trying to figure out who was instrumental in shortlisting the five candidates and why the Fatorda MLA was not taken into confidence, assuming the Margao civic body was in need of the five data entry operators to clear pending work.
“We have asked our MLA Sardesai why no youth from Fatorda has been shortlisted for the job. This only goes to show that someone has tried to ignore Fatorda in the scheme of things,” remarked a Fatorda Forward councillor, saying the episode has indeed left a bitter trust deficit amongst the alliance partners.
