Aquem-Baixo sarpanch urges CM to provide funds to PWD for works

Aquem-Baixo sarpanch urges CM to provide funds to PWD for works

MARGAO
Aquem-Baixo Sarpanch Siddesh Bhagat had a suggestion or two for Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on the question of giving Rs 25 crore development grant to the MLAs to usher in the development of their constituencies.
Instead of giving Rs 25 crore to the MLAs, the Aquem-Baixo sarpanch has requested the Chief Minister to provide Rs 25,000 to the PWD engineers to take up simple works, but are of great significance to the villagers and their safety.
After the PWD officials dragged its feet over the
question of whitewashing a speed breaker in the village, the sarpanch along with other panch members undertook the work of painting the speed breaker on Saturday morning. "Even after continuously writing to PWD AE there has been no action taken on this issue of painting the speed breaker. For past several days we have been asking the JE to get the speed breaker painted which he has failed due to some political pressure. There are numerous accidents taking place at this spot. So we had to take this step to open their eyes on this issue. This might be a small job, but is of great importance to the people," the sarpanch said.
He said the CM should give the PWD department Rs 25,000 to paint speed breakers and dividers instead of giving Rs 25 crore for big projects. We need this issue to be taken up in ongoing Assembly session," Bhagat added.
