In his message the Archbishop said: On Good Friday, Christians the world over celebrated the death of the Lord Jesus, but Good Friday is not the end of the story. Easter celebrates the rising of Jesus from death to a new life, reminding us that light conquers darkness, love conquers hatred and truth conquers deceit.
In our insecure and troubled world, those who follow Jesus Christ have a peace and a hope that is not determined by what goes on around us, but by the sure knowledge that God remains in control.
He conveyed his cordial and warm greetings to the Christian community and to all people of goodwill in the State of Goa. “May all of us, regardless of creed or race, join together in building a new society, marked by frank collaboration, mutual respect and inter-religious harmony.”
The Governor too extended greetings saying: Easter is the time when we remember the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ who sacrificed His life for everyone’s wrong doings and then came back to life to defeat death and evil. This festival gives us the holy message of brotherhood, love, tolerance, compassion, sacrifice and forgiveness. These valuable ideals can resolve many problems in the world and bring peace. Easter is the ultimate sign and divine symbol of victory over evil forces.
The Chief Minister too in his Easter greeting said: This is an auspicious occasion when we celebrate the crucifixion of Jesus and resurrection on Easter Sunday which are manifestations of the triumph of good over evil. The world ever remembers the great message of love, sacrifice, forgiveness, compassion and brotherhood, which Lord Jesus Christ gave to humanity.
The Chief Minister further said, “May the celebrations of Easter, this year, bring greater peace and prosperity to one and all.”
