Archdiocese: No call, visit from CM yet

THE GOAN NETWORK
PANAJI: Amid claims by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant that he would meet Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao in connection with the serial blasts in Sri Lanka and some reports that he had already met the archbishop on Sunday, the archdiocese has clarified that no such interaction has taken place between the chief minister and the archbishop.
In a statement released to the media on Monday evening, the Diocesan Centre for Social Communications Media (DCSCM) said: “It had been widely circulated in the local and national media that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant had stated on Sunday that he would be talking to Archbishop Ferrao regarding beefing up security measures around churches in Goa following the serial blasts that took place in some churches in Sri Lanka on Sunday morning.”
“Some media even reported on Monday that Dr Sawant had already met or spoken to the Archbishop in this connection.”
“We wish to clarify that no such meeting between the Chief Minister and the Archbishop has taken place so far, nor have the two authorities spoken on the telephone,” clarified the DCSCM.
