Former speaker and governor-designate Rajendra Arlekar on Monday left for Shimla, where he will be sworn in as governor of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday.
Shortly before his departure, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and other BJP leaders visited him and wished him on his new responsibility.
Among those who accompanied Sawant included BJP State President Sadanand Tanavade, Urban Development Minister Milind Naik, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida and former MP Narendra Sawaikar,
Speaking to reporters, the chief minister said he and the BJP leaders had gone to wish him on behalf of the government and the people of Goa on his new responsibilities as governor of Himachal Pradesh.
“Arlekar has made very significant contributions to the BJP and to the state legislative assembly. He provided an online platform for the assembly and made available the assembly work in Konkani medium," said Sawant.
