Aam Aadmi Party National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will arrive in the State on Tuesday as part of a two-day visit to interact with local party leaders as a precursor for the upcoming Goa Assembly elections.
Announcing his visit to Goa, Kejriwal stated in a tweet on Monday: “Goa wants change. Enough of parties buying and selling MLAs. Enough of dirty politics. Goa wants development. There is no shortage of funds, only shortage of honest intent. Goa wants honest politics. See you in Goa tomorrow.”
Kejriwal is scheduled to land at Dabolim airport at 2.30 pm on Tuesday.
Confirming these details, AAP Goa convenor Rahul Mhambre told The Goan that Kejriwal will interact with party leaders during his visit to the State.
“There will be no public meeting. He will address a news conference on Wednesday morning,” said Mhambre.
“The AAP has launched a ‘Let’s Clean Goa Politics’ campaign and the visit of our AAP national convener Kejriwal will give a huge boost to this campaign as Goa needs freedom from the corrupt policies and practices of traditional parties,” said Mhambre.
“We party workers in Goa will get to learn about Delhi’s model of governance, based on honest politics and real development,” Mhambre added.
In the build-up to the State Assembly elections, the AAP has been very vociferous about issues plaguing Goa and has been hitting out at the BJP and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant consistently.
The party caught everyone’s attention with its recent incident of distributing cakes to “defector MLAs. In Nuvem, the party workers clashed with local MLA Wilfred D’Sa’s supporters when they had gone to give the “defection” reminder cake to him.
The incident has evoked mixed response from the people on social media condemning the incident, while a few have praised it.
