Even as the number of people in the State testing positive for Covid-19 continues to show an upward trend, statistics have revealed that around 20 per cent of the population in Goa have undergone tests for coronavirus till date.
According to the figures in the health bulleting released by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) on Saturday, in the last seven months, around 20 per cent of the Goan population has been subjected to Covid tests.
A total of 3,01,440 tests have been conducted in the State till date. Out of the total tests conducted, 14 per cent of people or 43,768 have been found Covid positive. The figures also reveal that 40,915 people who were infected with the virus have recovered and have been sent home.
Statistics from the health bulletin also reveal that the recovery rate in Goa is around 93 per cent. On an average, over 1,500 tests are being conducted on a daily basis.
DHS figures released for the last five days, however, do not paint a grim picture of the Covid scene in the State. The bulletin says the
percentage of positive people is decreasing day by day.
A few days back the number of Covid positive patients was around 700-800, but this figure has now decreased to less than 300 daily.
Presently, more and more people are opting for home isolation and figures reveal that around 21,936 people have preferred to stay at home and continue with the treatment.
It may be recalled that the State-level expert committee on Covid-19 had suggested monitoring of home isolation patients for a period of 17 days.
Any home isolation patient found to be having symptoms even after nine days would be directly referred to the hospital for a preventative check up, it had said.
In addition to this, patients not registered on the State government’s online portal would have to be registered by the Mamlatdar in each district to ensure complete coverage.
