Arpora-Nagoa to act against movable carts on footpaths

MAPUSArrA senior citizen brought it to the attention of the gram sabha that the movable carts owners created a nuisance in the village by locating their carts in the middle of the footpaths. r“If these people occupy the footpaths, where will the pedestrians walk on? Also, it will give an opportunity to others to start their business on the footpaths,” the gram sabha member said. rTaking into consideration the concerns of the pedestrians, Sarpanch, Srikrishna Nagvekar decided to take action against the movable carts and remove them from the footpaths. rSome gram sabha members also raised the issue of stray cattle menace which turns menacing during the monsoons. r“Stray cattle squatting in the middle of the roads during the nights could be very nightmarish to motorists,” a gram sabha member said. rReceptive to the concerns of the people, the panchayat decided to apply its mind on how best to tackle the stray cattle menace. rThe panchayat has decided to immediately take up repair of broken roads and fill up potholes on various roads in its jurisdiction. rThe panchayat informed the gram sabha that street lights in Arpora-Nagoa will be replaced with LED bulbs before Ganesh Chathurthi. rThe panchayat also decided to install garbage bins at strategic points in the village.
