Anjuna Police has arrested another person in connection with the alleged murder of Allan D’Souza of Assagao, whose body was found in mysterious circumstances near the Baga bridge.
The arrested person has been identified as Shirish Govekar (42) of Simvaddo, Arpora.
With this, two people have so far been arrested in the case.
Earlier, police had arrested Pramod alias Babu Khorjuvekar of Tambudki-Arpora in the case.
The body of Allan D’Souza (28) was found near the Baga bridge in mysterious condition on August 25. Police had then registered the case as unnatural death.
Three days later, on August 28, the father of the deceased, Antonio D’Souza filed a complaint with the Anjuna Police suspecting foul play in the death of his son. Based on the complaint, the police registered the case as murder and arrested Pramod.
On the day of the incident, Allan had reportedly proceeded to Candolim to meet his friends but did not return home till 9 pm.
Later, at about 10.30 pm, Anjuna Police contacted the family of the deceased to inform them that Allan had met with an accident and was subsequently brought dead at the Candolim Primary Health Centre.
While the post mortem had been conducted, the doctors had reserved the autopsy report even as the viscera has been preserved for analysis.
