Within a day of issuing a lookout notice against the alleged accused involved in chain snatching case in Assonora, Colvale Police identified and arrested two accused who are residents of Vasco.
A Mapusa court remanded the duo to three days police custody.
According to police, around two weeks back the accused riding a two-wheeler intercepted the complainant who is a resident of Assonora while she was walking towards her residence and snatched her gold chain worth Rs 1 lakh.
The police got CCTV footage of the criminal act and after analysing the footage issued a look out notice against the alleged accused.
On Friday, police received information that two accused – Ashpak Kadur (25) and Hussain Rashid (23) – both residents of New Vaddem, Vasco were suspected to be involved in the crime.
Colvale Police along with the assistance of Vasco Police identified and apprehended the persons.
“During interrogation the accused confessed about their involvement in the crime,” a police official informed.
The two-wheeler used to commit the crime has also been attached.
The duo has been arrested under section 356, 379 r/w 34 of the IPC and further investigation is on.
