While district authorities are gearing up for the forthcoming Winter Session of the State legislature in Belagavi from December 19 to 29, the city will be out of bounds for visitors from Goa and other places as all hotels in the city have been booked during the period.

The 10-day session will be held at the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha, the mammoth structure about 10 kms from Belagavi city on the National Highway. The entire government machinery comprising the Chief Minister and his Cabinet, secretaries, MLAs, MLCs and other officials will be descending upon Belagavi for over 10 days.

Deputy Commissioner of Belagavi Nitesh Patil had convened a meeting of all departments to review the preparations to be made for the 10-day session. He called upon officials of various departments to make arrangements with regard to food, transport, healthcare and other facilities for all people attending the session properly.

He addressed members of all the committees formed by the district administration for the smooth organisation of the session.

“All officials should ensure that none of the guests arriving for the session should face any kind of inconvenience during their stay in Belagavi. Besides ensuring a smooth flow of traffic during the session, the authorities should also focus on hygiene in the entire city,” Deputy Commissioner Patil said.

Belagavi Police Commissioner Dr M B Boralingaiah and Superintendent of Police Dr Sanjiv Patil assured that facilities for security, movement of vehicles and parking of vehicles would be made effectively to avoid inconvenience to the guests during the session.

City Corporation Commissioner Rudresh Ghali said the private and government places where the guest would be accommodated during the session had already been checked and the facility would be made for the stay of all the guests on priority.

The officials also briefed about the facilities to be made for supply of meals in various identified areas inside and outside the session.

While authorities have initiated all possible steps and initiated measures for the success of the Winter Session, visitors from Goa and other places would be left at inconvenience about the accommodation during their visit to Belagavi, the hoteliers have opined.
