Anand Teltumbde may have walked free after the Supreme Court of India on Friday upheld the bail granted to him by the Bombay High Court in the Bhima Koregao case but the scholar and author will not return to take his place on the faculty of Goa’s prestigious B-School -- Goa Institute of Management (GIM).

In the duration of his over two years incarceration under the draconian Unlawful Activity Prevention Act (UAPA) since he surrendered on April 14, 2020, Teltumbde attained superannuation age and formally retired a few months ago.

Teltumbde used to head the prestigious institute’s Big Data programme.

According to GIM Director, Dr Ajit Parulekar, Teltumbde formally retired from the institute a few months ago on attaining the age of 72.

Interestingly, GIM management steadfastly stood by Teltumbde throughout his brush with the Bhima Koregao case.

“He (Teltumbde) was granted a two year extension and retained as Professor Emeritus. He retired recently on completing 72 years,” Dr Parulekar said.

He is the grandson-in-law of Indian Constitution’s author Dr B R Ambedkar and was an active professor at GIM when he surrendered ironically on Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14) in 2020 during the early pandemic lockdowns.
