MAPUSA: Barely a few days after ATM card holders were looted of several lakhs of rupees at ATMs in Porvorim and Panaji, six bank accounts of customers of the Axis Bank at Anjuna, including four accounts of police personnel, were hacked on Sunday.
According to the police, the six customers were looted to the tune of Rs 1.55 lakh and the case has been registered at Anjuna Police station and Cyber Cell Goa.
The victims were Prathamesh Shirodkar (Rs 20,000), Sohan Shirodkar (Rs 10,000), Pritam Dabholkar (Rs 50,000), Laxman Mandrekar (Rs 35,000), Jayram Mhamal (Rs 30,000) and Vinod Talunekar (Rs 10,000).
According to sources, all the six account holders got SMSes stating that cash was withdrawn in a transaction in Mumbai. The account holders rushed to the Axis Bank and Anjuna Police
station and brought the issue to the notice of the bank management and Anjuna PI.
The bank management suggested to the account holders to register the case with Cyber Cell Goa.
According to the account holders, they got the SMS between 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm on Sunday stating that money was withdrawn from their bank accounts.
All the six account holders had used ATM in Anjuna area for their transactions, but except for Anjuna, no transactions took place in other areas, informed the bank officials.
The account holders didn't receive calls from any one asking for their pin numbers, informed sources.

* The four policemen, who were cheated in the bank hacking racket, were ordered to shift their salary bank accounts from State Bank of India to Axis Bank some months ago.
* Following the order, all the policemen had opened their salary accounts in Axis Bank, but after some months, the four policemen fell prey to the hackers.
