The joint inspection of the area at Novo Vaddo, Sernabatim in Colva village was conducted on Friday by team of officials of the Goa Bio-Diversity Board, Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) along with the petitioner in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) Judith Almeida on Friday.
The report of the joint inspection will now be placed before the National Green Tribunal since the petitioner had knocked the doors of the Tribunal for execution of an order for restoration of the land by the Goa Bio-diversity Board.
After the inspection, Judith told the media that the NGT had delivered a judgement on July 3, 2017 directing the respondents to restore the land at Sernabatim after a road was sought to be built through the fields.
However, since nothing concrete was happening on the ground, Judith again approached the NGT for an execution application to direct the authorities for the restoration of the land in question. “Several inspections have taken place since 2018, but the restoration is still not done on the plea that the survey numbers were not properly mentioned,” Judith said.
