Vasco police book 2 in Rs 15 lakh investment scam

VASCO: Vasco Police have registered a case of cheating involving an alleged fraudulent investment in a residential project, resulting in a financial loss of Rs 15 lakh to a resident from Chicalim.

The offence was registered following a complaint by Sankalp Lavu Shetgaonkar, who complained that the incident is alleged to have occurred between November 2021 and January 2022.

He alleged in his complaint that the accused, identified as Vidisha Gawande and Vijaynath Gawande, both from Sattari, allegedly conspired to induce the complainant into investing Rs 15 lakh in a residential complex project located in Dodamarg-Maharashtra.

The complainant, believing in the assurances of the accused, made payments on multiple occasions. However, despite promises of possession of a flat in the complex, the accused neither handed over the possession of the flat nor refunded the invested amount, thereby defrauding the complainant of the entire sum.

The case is currently under investigation, with PSI Carey Fernandes of Vasco Police Station
