Deputy Collector Nilesh Dhaygodkar along with a flying squad inspected two sites at Pratapnagar and Dhullai in Dharbandora on Tuesday morning, following complains of hill-cutting activity in the areas.

Officials noted that many trees had been felled in the area and directed that ongoing work at Dhullai has been stopped.

Talathi Vishwanath Gawkar of Dharbandora Panchayat also participated in the inspection.

An inspection was also conducted at Pratapnagar and two empty trucks were found parked at the site.

According to sources, houses have been built by cutting the hills for the last 10-12 years. Approximately, 17 houses have been constructed in the area and electricity connection has been released and roads have also been made. The inquiry has revealed that no license has been taken from the panchayat for the construction activity.

Dharbandora Panchayat Sarpanch Balaji alias Vinayak Gawas said no permission was taken from the panchayat to level the land at Dhullai.

He also stated that in Pratapnagar, people who built houses have not obtained permission for the release of water and electricity connections. However after submitting the sale deed documents to the panchayat, some house owners have obtained EHN numbers.

Dharbandoda Deputy Collector Nilesh Dhaygodkar said strict action will be taken against the owner of the place in Dhullai after conducting the inquiry.
