Authorities mum as structures spring up on government land

Authorities mum as structures spring up on government land

Residents in Sanguem have accused authorities of failing to take action against constructions which have controversially sprung up on government land at Cotarli-Sanguem.

Two locals, Constancio Mascarenhas and Santano Rodrigues, who have been complaining to authorities against the constructions have demanded an explanation from authorities for their silence in the matter.

They said they had been highlighting the issue since last year when the first structure was built at the site.

“With no action forthcoming from authorities, those involved in in the controversial constructions began to take advantage and there are now four structures at the site. To add insult to injury, those involved in the activity have even fenced the area, which according to survey records, is property owned by the State government,” said Rodrigues.

Rodrigues told The Goan they had lodged complaints before the Mamlatdar, BDO, Director of Panchayat and the Uguem Panchayat.
