Authorities raid illegal sand extraction at Corjem-Curtorim

In a joint operation, authorities seized sand which was illegal extracted at Corjem-Curtorim in the wee hours of Tuesday. The raid was carried out at around 4.15 am by a team comprising of Deputy Collector, Dharbandora, officials of the Mines department, Captain of Ports, besides Salcete Mamlatdar Prataprao Gaonkar and Maina-Curtorim police officials.

Around 100m3 quantity of illegal sand which was extracted at the place was seized by the raiding team. Besides, two loaded trucks were seized in the operation.

Directions were later issued to the Maina-Curtorim police to register FIR against the persons for theft of public property. The Maina-Curtorim police is investigating.
