Statistics compiled at the Margao Urban Health Centre on Tuesday rung in both good and sad news on the Covid front.
While the Margao Urban Health Centre gave Covid jabs to around 256 persons on a single day on Tuesday, there’s a sharp spike in the number of Covid positive cases reported in the jurisdiction of the urban health centre.
If the number of Covid cases at the Margao Urban Health Centre had touched a total of 236 on Monday from 206, the cases jumped to 254 on Tuesday, a spike of 18 cases in the last 24 hours.
Health officials told The Goan that the Covid situation is indeed a cause for concern with cases on the rise. “The situation is alarming in the city. All the cases reported at the Margao Urban Health Centre may not be from Margao, but the rising cases is indeed a cause for concern,” the official said.
The official further added that the government should immediately intervene by imposing necessary restrictions and ensure that members of the public are forced to wear masks and observe social distancing.
