Authorities urged to act into Borim landslides

PONDA

The Sidhanath Parvat at Shirshire Borim has drawn the attention of authorities due to recent landslides on a stretch of a road on this hill.

The road has not been cleared of the debris and the authorities have not applied their mind to work out ways to avoid such incidents.

Harshad Dewari, a local from Borim, told The Goan that a third landslide took place on Saturday and the debris have not been cleared. “This is the third landslide that has taken place at the same sharp turn on this hill. People visiting Sidhanath temple are facing inconvenience everyday. Authorities should take some measures so such incidents will not occur,” he urged.

In the last fifteen days three landslides have occurred. Though the incidents are not major, people find it difficult to visit the temple as the debris are not cleared.

Sources informed that after the first incident of landslide the road was cleared by one politician, even as the authorities failed to pay heed to request from locals.
