MARGAO
The Goa unit of the Bajrang Dal, the youth wing of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Wednesday staged a protest near the comunidade building to condemn the violence in Haryana and caution the people to be wary of Jihadi elements in Goa.
Bajrang leader, former MLA Mohan Amshekar, warned that the violence during the peaceful procession taken out by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Haryana might also take place in Goa during the religious processions and festivals in the peaceful State.
He urged the people of Goa, especially the Hindu community, to boycott the products sold by certain communities, saying products on sale by the vendors along the roadsides might be used to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere.
Saying the Judiciary should take action against the Jihadis and the government must come out with stern laws against those working against the country, Amshekar said the future generation will not be able to live peacefully in Goa if people do not wake up to the reality.
“These Jihadi elements have vowed to make India an Islamic state. Their population has been on the rise. What has happened in Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq may also take place in India if the people do not remain alert,” he said.
He added: “Today, Christians in Kerala and Sri Lanka are facing a threat from the Jihadis. The Christians in France are facing a similar threat. Jihad is being taught in their religion,” he added.
Bajrang Dal leader Viraj Desai said the workers of the organisations have assembled to condemn the violence in Haryana, saying the attack on the peaceful procession by the VHP is to disturb the peace in the country.
The Goa police mobilised a huge posse of personnel at the site as a precautionary measure. As it turned out, the men-in-uniform outnumbered the workers of the Bajrang Dal around the comundiade building.
