Bal Mela held at Big Foot

PANAJI: The 12th annual Bal Mela, a full-day programme organized by the Jan Ugahi Trust, the Big Foot Trust and Vikalp Trust took place on December 6, at the Big Foot Sanskriti Kendra in Lotoulim.

It was hosted in honour of underprivileged children from various parts of Goa and promoted the adage ‘Let children be children.’ This year’s theme was ‘Little Stars, Endless Possibilities.’ About 1233 children from various homes and institutions attended the event. Students from numerous schools and colleges from South Goa volunteered their time at the mela, operating stalls and serving food to the children.

There were games and other contests and short animated movies at the mini-cinema for the children. An all-Goa exhibition of photography, essays and posters relating to garbage downsizing was on display. 23 child achievers in sports and academics were felicitated. The children staged a variety entertainment programme with dances and short plays.
