Bandora p’yat to serve notices on cattle owners

The Bandora panchayat has decided to serve notices to cattle owners from its jurisdiction in a bid to tackle cattle menace on the roads.

PONDA r rSpeaking to The Goan, Bandora sarpanch Ramchandra Naik said they have discussed the issue in their first monthly meeting on Friday. “Over 100 cattle are seen squatting on the roads in our jurisdiction. It becomes difficult to drive at night because of the cattle. Hence, we have decided to send the notices,” he said. rAccording to Naik, the cattle owners will be told to tie them in their cattle shed in the evenings. “We can understand that cattle go for grazing during the day, but it is the duty of their owners to tie the cattle in shed in the evening. In recent times, everyone is complaining about cattle squatting on roads,” Naik said. rHe said they have contacted ‘Gaushala’ and if cattle are found at night, they will transport it to a new place. “We have no option than to transport them to ‘Gaushala’, if their owners are not taking our notice seriously,” he said.
