PANAJI:
In a recent ruling, the office of the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities has mandated that a bank manager from the Porvorim branch of a nationalised bank take specific actions following an incident of discrimination. The manager was found to have humiliated and discriminated against the father of a person with a disability.
To address this, the bank manager has been directed to volunteer at the Sanjay Centre for Special Education. This volunteer work aims to foster empathy, understanding and respect towards individuals with disabilities. In addition to this, the manager is required to submit a written public apology for the incident.
